Together Again: May Monday was Shechet’s point of departure for the large blue-green sculpture Maiden May (2023), located just outside this window on Museum Hill. Working between her clay sculpture, computer drawings, and small-scale paper and cardboard models, she created Maiden May as an entirely new artwork. Between these two sculptures Shechet’s process is made visible, translating malleable material and organic form into a planar metal construction.
