Maya Lin Oral History

Video directed by Graham Mason © Storm King Art Center, 2018

Maya Lin’s site-specific earthwork, Storm King Wavefield, 2007–08, offers visitors panoramic views of Schunnemunk Mountain and the Hudson Highlands as well as immersive experiences within its grassy waves. In this interview, Lin describes her selection of this 11-acre site―a former gravel pit that supplied material for the New York State Thruway―and the ongoing maintenance required by this organic, living work.
