Robert Grosvenor Oral History

Video directed by Graham Mason © Storm King Art Center, 2018

Robert Grosvenor's Untitled sculpture was the second site-specific commission to be installed at Storm King, in 1974. Storm King founder Ralph E. Ogden became interested in Grosvenor's work after seeing one of his sculptures in a private collection, and arranged the commission. In this interview, Grosvenor describes selecting the site for the sculpture, and getting acquainted with it after it was fabricated by the Lippincott foundry. In the course of discussing many points in his career, he describes how working with fabricators has been a rare event, as was creating outdoor sculpture.
