Joan O. Stern grew up in the enclave of Mountainville, daughter of Storm King founder Ralph E. Ogden. In this interview, she describes a foundational moment in Storm King’s history—a trip to Bolton Landing with her father to see the sculptures of artist David Smith—and the surprise when Ogden decided to purchase thirteen of Smith’s sculptures.
